Susie is a 10 year-old girl who was diagnosed with ADHD
at age 8. She was placed on medication which appeared to help with her attention
difficulties.
However, Susie was still performing poorly in school. Her parents sought a
neuropsychological evaluation to clarify the reasons for her academic failure.
The results of the comprehensive assessment revealed an undiagnosed learning
disability in addition to the ADHD. Once Susie’s curriculum was changed,
and the appropriate accommodations were put in place, Susie’s academic
performance and attitude regarding school improved dramatically.
