How will my child’s report be used?
Neuropsychological evaluations are medical records and are subject to all the
privacy protections afforded under state and federal law (See “Protecting
your Privacy”). With few exceptions, you are the owner of your child’s
report. The report will not be sent to anyone without your written permission.
Most parents choose to share the report with teachers and other professionals
in the child’s life. Some, however, choose to keep the report confidential
and for their own understanding of their child. Some of the common uses for
the pediatric report include:
- Treatment planning
- Parenting strategies
- Parent/teacher conferences
- Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings
- Child Advocacy
- Appropriate placement and recommendations
- Baseline from which to measure
progress
